London Olympics 2012

Today was the day that Inspiring Derby Week 2012 had been leading up to.  It was the day when the Olympic torch would be making its way down into the the city, and then Darley Abbey Park.  Before arriving to Derby, the torch took a ride in the cable cars at Matlock and appeared for a photo shoot at Chatsworth House.  You can see the torch at Chatsworth House in Janet’s video below.

Here is a video of the Olympic torch arriving into Derby and being lit at Darley Abbey Park.

A couple of hours later, there was a carnival/parade from Darley Abbey Park leading back into the city, it was vibrant and full of bright colours.


You can see the glorious costumes of the Brazilian dancers in the video above. The Salsa dancers from Oakwood also took part with Salsa dance demonstrations and gave free salsa dance classes. Definitely lots to see and do!
