A matter of interpretation

It was just another question flung at us during another quiz night at the local pub. And yet this one really had me in a fluster. First I couldn’t understand the question. Then after they gave us the answer i still couldn’t understand it!

It was only when we were walking to the car, and I repeated the answer out loud that I realised that the question was in fact a joke! It was a pun, a play on words! Where I had got it wrong was that I had tried to answer the question “literally”! Oh well, the really was on me then.
